Requirements for Graduation

All graduates must submit a Petition for Graduation, even if you are not participating in the commencement ceremony.

What do I need to know about academic regalia?

Traditional students attending classes on campus must pick up their regalia during the spring cap and gown distribution event held at the Magee-O’Connor Theater in Andorfer Commons Date to be determined). Please remember to remove your gown from the packaging a week before the ceremony to remove the wrinkles.

Non-traditional students, doctoral students and traditional students taking classes fully online will receive information to individually order their regalia, which will be shipped to them.

Can I decorate my cap?

Yes! Please be tasteful as we have the authority to make you remove anything that could be deemed offensive.

When do I arrive?

Graduates should arrive one hour prior to the ceremony. Remember that Indiana Tech is in the Eastern Time Zone.

What to bring

Cap and gown, tassel, hood (graduate and doctoral only), Grad Pass QR Code, and cords (if applicable). Please do not bring additional personal items as there will be no place to secure them.

Prohibited items

Prohibited items at the Memorial Coliseum include, but are not limited to: weapons/firearms of any kind, outside food and/or beverage (with the exceptions of baby food stored in reasonably small containers or baby bottles), laser light pointers, selfie sticks, air horns, umbrellas, bottles, cans, large bags and/or coolers, and animals (other than those used as a service animal.)

If you are unsure about whether or not you can bring any other belongings inside, please contact the Memorial Coliseum at 260.483.1111 and they will be able to assist you.

When will I get my real diploma?

You will receive a diploma cover at commencement. Your degree will be officially conferred after you have been academically and financially cleared. Upon successful completion of your course requirements, you can begin the clearance process. Your diploma will be shipped via FedEx within approximately four to six weeks. Diplomas will be shipped to the address submitted on the Petition for Graduation. One official transcript will be included. Please note, FedEx will not ship to a P.O. Box.

Tickets

Indiana Tech commencement ceremonies are free and open to the public, contingent upon direction from local health authorities.

Parking and directions

Allen County War Memorial Coliseum located at 4000 Parnell Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46805

Parking costs $8.00 for a standard vehicle (car, truck, van) in the main lot or $12.00 in the preferred lot, accessible via the Coliseum Boulevard main entrance. RV, bus, and limousine parking costs $16.00

All parking booths accept CASH and DEBIT/CREDIT cards. The parking fees are for a single entry.

Elevators and escalators

  • The elevator located inside the premium seating entrance will give guests access to all levels of the arena.
  • Escalators are available to the 100, 200, 400, 500 and 600 levels of the arena.
  • Stairs are located throughout the facility.

Accessibility (ADA) seating

The Allen County War Memorial Coliseum has accessible seating with companion seat(s.) Please request information from an usher when you arrive. Accessible parking is available in front of the main entrance to the building. Vehicles using accessible spaces must display the appropriate hang tags or license plates. The accessible drop-off area for the Memorial Coliseum is located on the circle drive (Bob Chase Way) in front of the Coliseum Ticket Office located off eastbound Coliseum Boulevard at entrance #6.

Wheelchair access

The Coliseum has a limited number of transport chairs available for use on a first-come, first-served basis. A valid driver’s license or other acceptable form of picture identification is required as a deposit. See a guest services representative as you enter the building to inquire about availability. If wheelchair storage is needed, we do our best to locate the wheelchair near the guest’s seat location.

Sign language interpreters

Guests who require interpreting services must let us know prior to the event.

How do I walk up to the stage?

Ushers will release one row at a time in dual lines. Walk up the ramp to have your GradPass QR Code scanned. When you hear your name announced, walk to the dean, take your diploma cover with your left hand and shake hands with your right hand. Walk to the center of the stage and shake hands with President Einolf as your picture is taken. You will then proceed down the center aisle to the formal photo area before returning to your seat.

Photography

King Shots Photography will be taking photos of each graduate on stage as well as a formal portrait. To get exclusive access to your graduation photos, register online with your email and/or mobile number.

After the Commencement Ceremony, and once the photos are uploaded and live, you will get a notification with a direct link to view and order photos. You may also share this with your family. The is no obligation to purchase.

Live-stream

The ceremony will also be live-streamed for those who are unable to attend.

Emergencies and evacuation procedures

In the event of a medical emergency or evacuation, please see a member of the event staff, usher, or law enforcement official and follow their direction.

Smoking policy

There is no smoking permitted inside the Memorial Coliseum, as well as within 20 feet of any outside entrance to the building. This includes all e-cigarettes.

Change of information

If you want your legal name or address changed, submit the Change of Information Form by February 1st.
